ROUND 3

When Should you Apply :-
To avoid overwhelming server traffic generated by the high volume of applications they receive, candidates are encouraged to submit their application as early as possible prior to the deadline of each round.
The comitte of Harvard encourage applicants to apply in the first or second round, as space in the class may be limited by the third round. In addition, applying in the earlier rounds will give candidates more time to address the following:

v     International candidates needing visas will find that applying in Round 3 makes the timing of their visa application stressful.
v     International candidates admitted in Rounds 1 and 2 find that it's helpful to have the additional time to work on English proficiency.
v     Some candidates may be required to complete preliminary course work prior to their enrollment.
v     Many deadlines for outside (non-Harvard Business School) fellowships are in early spring. Only students who have been accepted are eligible for these fellowships
v     Financial aid is available regardless of when students are admitted. However, since admitted students may apply for financial aid only after they are admitted Round 3 admits have less time to prepare their application.
v     Harvard Business School residence halls and Harvard University-affiliated apartments are assigned by lottery. Deadlines for both of these housing options precede Round 3 notification, and you must be admitted to HBS before you can enter these lotteries.

Requirements for Application at Harvard :-
To apply to Harvard Business School, the admission bench ask you to assemble and prepare a variety of materials that will help us assess your qualifications. Remember, all materials must be submitted to HBS online by the application deadlines. The following serves as a preview of what you need to prepare.

APPLICATION COMPONENTS:-
The application for admission consists of the following:

            Transcripts:-

Candidates must have the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required (unless applying through the 2+2 program — please see information for college seniors). Degrees from international universities offering three-year baccalaureate degrees are valid equivalents.

Harvard require uploaded transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate academic institutions that you have attended (full- or part-time).

You may upload an "unofficial" or student copy of your transcript; however, they will request an official copy for verification purposes should you be admitted to HBS.
When the Admissions Board looks at your transcripts, they are looking at the whole picture — not just your GPA. They take into account where you went to school, the courses that you took and your performance. They  understand the structures of different grading systems worldwide. There is no minimum GPA to apply, although our students usually have strong undergraduate records. Undergraduate academics are just one factor the Admissions Board uses to evaluate a candidate.

GMAT/GRE:-

v     The GMAT or GRE is required in order to submit an application.

v     When submitting your application, you may report the unofficial GMAT or GRE score given on the day of the test, or your official score if you have received it. Every applicant must request that Pearson (for the GMAT) or ETS (for the GRE) send an official score report directly to HBS.

v     They  require you to complete the AWA portion of the exam; however, you do not need the results in order to submit your application.

v     If you take the GMAT on or after June 5, 2012, we also require you to complete the Integrated Reasoning portion of the GMAT.

v     Please be advised that in order to apply for admission in Fall 2013, scores must be dated January 1, 2008, or more recently.

There is no minimum GMAT or GRE to apply and they do not have a bias toward one test or the other. If you look at there class profile, you can see that they have a wide range of GMAT scores in the current first year class. If you do test multiple times, they may report your best score, and they will only look at the scores from the single test sitting you report in your application.

TOEFL/IELTS/Pearson Test of English:-
Þ    A TOEFL, IELTS or Pearson Test of English (PTE) is required if you did not attend an undergraduate institution where the sole language of instruction is English.
Þ    If you completed a graduate degree which was taught in English, it is recommended you submit one of these tests, but it is not required.
Þ    Scores from ALL of these tests are valid for two years. These tests must be dated January 1, 2011 or more recently to be valid.
Þ    HBS only accepts the Internet-based (IBT) version of the TOEFL.

HBS does not have a minimum test score to apply, however, the MBA Admissions Board discourages any candidate with a TOEFL score lower than 109 on the IBT, an IELTS score lower than 7.5, or a PTE score lower than 75 from applying.

            Recommendations:-
Þ    You will need to have three recommendations submitted online by the application deadlines (2 recommendations are required for 2+2 candidates).
Þ    Recommenders will be asked to fill out a personal qualities and skills grid and answer our four additional questions (see below).
Þ    It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that all recommendations are submitted online by the deadline date for the round in which the applicant is applying.

There  general advice is that at least two out of three recommendations should come from your professional life. You can have three professional recommendations if that is appropriate given your situation. Ideally one of those should come from a current or recent supervisor, but they are know that is not always possible. Use your best judgment on who you decide to ask - there is no set formula for who should be your recommenders. Look at the questions admission board are asking recommenders to complete. Find people who know you well enough to answer them! This should take priority over level of seniority or HBS alumni status.

            Additional Materials:-
Þ    Current resume
Þ    Signed Acceptance of HBS Admissions Policies
Þ    Nonrefundable application fee (credit card only) of $250 (USD)* - this fee cannot be waived
*Applicants to there 2+2 Program need only two recommendations and the application fee is $100.

International Applicants:-
HBS welcomes students from around the globe. The admissions criteria applied in evaluating international applicants are the same as those for U.S. citizens. All application materials, including transcripts and recommendations, must be submitted online and in English.

Academic Requirements:-
An international applicant is required to hold a college or university degree equivalent to a four-year American baccalaureate degree. All post-secondary educational institutions you have attended and received a degree from, including technical and professional schools, should be listed on the application form. The complete, formal names of the institutions and the title of any diploma or degree earned must be used.
            Transcripts:-
When providing uploaded transcripts for the application, all course names must be translated into English before submission. An unofficial translation is acceptable in your initial written application. However, if admitted to Harvard Business School, you will be required to provide an official original language paper transcript sent directly from each college or university attended to World Education Services (WES), a third-party verification agency, along with an official word-for-word English translation of that transcript. The School reserves the right to withdraw any offer of admission if there is a discrepancy between the uploaded unofficial translation and the official original language transcript and/or the official translation.
TOEFL, IELTS, or Pearson Test of English (PTE):-
The HBS MBA Program is built upon an immersive learning experience that encourages public speaking, group discussions, and active class participation. To succeed, students must possess a highly developed proficiency in written and oral English.
Þ    All candidates who received their bachelor's degree and any graduate degrees from a university or universities where English is NOT the sole language of instruction are required to take an English language test.
Þ    Candidates who received a bachelor's degree from a university where English is NOT the sole language of instruction but received a Master's or Ph.D. degree from a university program where English was the sole language of instruction are also strongly advised, though not required, to submit TOEFL iBT, IELTS or PTE scores as part of their initial written application process.
Þ    HBS accepts three English language tests: the Internet-based version (only) of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT); the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or the Pearson Test of English (PTE).
Þ    Scores from tests taken before January 1, 2011 will not be accepted.
Þ    The MBA Admissions Board discourages any candidate with a TOEFL score lower than 109 on the iBT, an IELTS score lower than 7.5, or a PTE score lower than 75 from applying.
Those candidates required to take an English language test must have received at least their unofficial scores prior to submitting their application. Both overall and component test scores must be reported on the application form.
All applicants must request that ETS (for the TOEFL), IELTS, or Pearson (for the PTE) send official copies of their scores to HBS. Please note that the HBS code for the TOEFL is 3444. For IELTS and PTE please follow instructions provided by IELTS and PTE.
